Coinciding with World Earth Day, the second seminar of the Montclima project will take place on Thursday 22nd April from 9h30 to 13h, entirely online. This event, hosted by the Comunidade Intermunicipal de Região de Leiria (CIMRL) in Portugal will be dedicated to the management and prevention of forest fires in Southwest Europe. Previous registration is needed and available here.
During the seminar, a wide range of experts from Portugal, Spain and France will address the risk of forest fires in the Southwest of Europe by analysing historical data and future projections. Moreover, a series of talks will be delivered in order to discuss how forest management practices affect the territory: from identifying the risk to reducing large wildfires or implementing means for surveillance.
The seminar is part of a series of seminars that started in 2020 in Soria (Spain) and that will continue throughout the life of Montclima in order to tackle all four natural risks analysed by the project (forest fires, droughts, erosion and floods), individually and jointly. By organising these events, the Montclima projet consortium aims at spreading the project’s developments and results, from a very early stage, to stakeholders and specialists, but also society as a whole.
A draft programme of the online seminar is available here.
Registration for the seminar is compulsory and available through this form
Montclima is a project co-funded by the Interreg SUDOE programme through the European Regional Development Fund.
We look forward to meeting you and discussing these exciting topics with you!
